Minimally Invasive Surgery

Minimally invasive surgery is one in which, either no incisions (cuts) or tiny 1-2 cm cuts are made on your body to perfrom complex treatments. It requires highly specialized training and  and expertise in use of specially designed instruments. With the use of skilled techniques, the surgeon is able to perform procedures which in the past required a 10 cm incision with very small incisions. This allows you, the patient to return to the comfort of your home the same day and back to your normal activities, at least 3- 5 times faster. During surgery, it reduces blood loss and infections. Not only that, post operative pain is also much reduced, therfefore reducing the need for strong pain medications which in themselves have side effects.

Some examples of minimally invasive surgeries performed by our doctors are: endometrial ablation, vaginal hysterectomy, correction of prolapse (commonly known as " falling out" ) of pelvic organs such as uterus, bladder or rectum. These usually do not require any cuts on your skin. Other examples are:  laparoscopic hyserectomies, laparoscopic removal of ovaries, cysts of the ovaries or fallopian tubes. These are small 1-2 cm incisions on your body.
